Summary: AshPlayer is a client for self-hosted media servers (primarily Emby, plus other sources you add). We do not operate a public streaming catalog and do not collect advertising tracking identifiers. Credentials and playback-related data stay on your device or go to servers you configure.
1. Scope
This policy covers AshPlayer on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and Mac (Bundle ID: com.ashplayer.apple). Every platform follows the same principle: your media and accounts belong to your own servers.
2. Information we process
- Media server connection data: server address, username, and access tokens after sign-in. Emby tokens are stored in the on-device Keychain with
AfterFirstUnlockThisDeviceOnly(not synced via iCloud Keychain). - Optional source credentials: Plex, WebDAV, or a TMDB Read Access Token you supply are also Keychain-backed on device.
- Local preferences: theme, playback preferences, Home layout, Following list, and similar settings in local storage. Non-secret layout configuration may sync via Apple iCloud Key-Value Storage when enabled; sync payloads exclude passwords/tokens.
- Local device identifier: a random on-device ID used to identify the client session to your Emby server—not for advertising.
- Playback progress: start/progress/stop reports go to your Emby or Plex server. The AshPlayer developer does not receive them.
- Metadata and bounded caches: artwork, details, and bounded Range playback cache may be stored locally and cleared in Settings.
- Local network: used to reach servers you add.
- Handoff (when available): opaque source/item identity and normalized position only—no titles, URLs, accounts, or tokens.
3. What we do not do
- No App Tracking Transparency / IDFA-based cross-app tracking.
- No developer-operated analytics/crash SDK observed in the current build (policy and App Privacy labels will be updated if that changes).
- We do not host your media library.
- We do not sell personal information.
4. Where data is sent
- Your Emby / Plex / WebDAV endpoints.
- TMDB, only if you configure a token and use Discovery.
- Apple system services (Keychain, optional iCloud KVS, Handoff).
- No AshPlayer developer account backend is required for core use.
5. Retention and deletion
On-device data remains until you remove sources, clear caches, or uninstall the app. Server-side watch history follows your media server’s admin policy.
